The Riverview Park and Zoo Miniature Train will wrap up its season on Monday, Aug. 4th, as major rehabilitation work begins on the Water Street Pumphouse and Dam.
Zoo officials say the popular train will continue to run daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until the end of the August long weekend, giving families one final chance this summer to enjoy the ride. The closure is necessary because the miniature train crosses the dam, which cannot be safely accessed while construction is underway.
The upcoming rehabilitation project will address concrete deterioration and make critical upgrades to ensure the long-term stability and functionality of the Water Street Dam. Construction is expected to begin later this summer, with work continuing into 2026.
The Miniature Train, a long-standing favourite attraction at the zoo, is scheduled to return for visitors during the May 2026 long weekend once the dam work is complete.
