A Cobourg resident has been charged with multiple drug-related offences following an investigation sparked by a report of a suspicious vehicle in Hamilton Township.
According to Northumberland OPP, a concerned citizen contacted police around 6:15 p.m. on May 21 after spotting a vehicle parked on Birch Road that had been seen earlier in the day. While heading to the area, officers located and stopped a vehicle matching the description provided.
The driver was found to be wanted on a warrant and was taken into custody.
Following the arrest, a search uncovered a significant quantity of controlled substances – approximately 360 grams of suspected cocaine and about 150 suspected opioid pills – along with Canadian currency believed to be proceeds of crime.
On July 17, the Cobourg resident was officially charged with possession of cocaine and opioids for the purpose of trafficking, as well as possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The individual remains in custody and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
