The Town of Greater Napanee will launch its new Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) in September 2025, offering up to $15,000 per year for local projects and events that benefit the community.
The CIF replaces the Atura Power Community Development Fund, which will continue accepting applications until August 25. Funding comes from Atura Power’s community benefit contributions and will grow as more power infrastructure projects are completed.
Roughly $75,000 from the previous fund will go toward larger municipal projects and a reserve to extend funding over time. The fund aims to support areas like safety, health, environment, recreation, housing, and culture.
The CIF will have two application intakes each year—in Fall and Spring. A new advisory committee will review applications and recommend projects to council.
Mayor Terry Richardson says the fund will help maintain community investments without putting more pressure on taxpayers. Applications open this September.
