The Trenton Downtown Business Improvement Area’s Festival on the Bay returns this weekend to light up the downtown and beyond.
As a result, Dundas Street West will be closed starting Thursday, July 17 at 6 a.m. until Saturday, July 19 at 6 p.m., says the city.
The festival requires a full road closure on Dundas from Division to Front streets for eastbound and westbound vehicular traffic. Detour routes will be in place.
City officials say during the closure, westbound traffic will be permitted to turn left onto Fraser Park Drive from the bridge.
The DBIA’s signature event features everything from a pancake breakfast to food trucks, to the return of the sidewalk sale, fireworks, artist alley, live entertainment, dragon boat races, and more.
The dragon boat festival has grown to 13 teams for this Saturday’s race. Races are starting at 9 a.m. and will go until about 4 p.m. Funds raised at the Trenton Dragon Boat Festival will also support the YMCA Strong Kids campaign.
Volunteers are still needed for race day. People interested in dedicating a few hours can email race director Tiffany Dranski at tiffany.dranksi@ceo.ymca.ca.
The Y also says it’s still looking for a safety boat and operator to act as a backup safety vessel – requirements include a 14-to-to-18-foot boat with an outboard motor, and a calm, capable captain. An honorarium or fuel costs can be provided.
