A local balloon business is spreading joy to seniors in a colourful way. Daniel Jukes, owner of County Balloons, has launched a new initiative called “Adopt a Grandparent.”
The project invites community members to sponsor cheerful Balloon Buddies that will be delivered to residents at Friendly Manor Nursing Home in Greater Napanee on Grandparent Day in September.
Jukes told myFM he was inspired by a similar campaign in the U.S. during the COVID-19 pandemic,
The goal is to help fight loneliness among seniors and brighten their day with a surprise balloon delivery.
The community can get involved by visiting CountyBalloons.net/adopt-a-grandparent-faq.
County Balloons has worked with Friendly Manor before, and the home was excited to take part in the campaign.
Jukes says even simple balloon gifts can bring huge smiles and meaningful joy to long-term care residents who often feel forgotten.
