A 21-year-old Toronto man is facing multiple charges after a deadly boating incident on Weslemkoon Lake in Addington Highlands.
Ontario Provincial Police say they were called around 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, after a person fell overboard and didn’t resurface. A large search effort followed, involving OPP units from Lennox and Addington and Bancroft, as well as the Marine Unit, Aviation Services, Underwater Search and Recovery Unit, and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.
By 8:00 p.m. that evening, the body of a 22-year-old man from Toronto was found in the water.
Police say Dawson Lowes, 21, has been charged with operation causing death, dangerous operation causing death, impaired operation by alcohol and drugs, and operation while over the legal blood alcohol limit.
The investigation is still ongoing, and the name of the deceased has not been released.
