Douro-Dummer Fire Services responded to a major structure fire early Monday morning at 366 Parkhill Road East, just outside the city.
Crews arrived shortly after 2:19 a.m. on Monday to find flames visible above the roof and heavy fire on the second storey. More than 25 firefighters battled the blaze through the morning and into the afternoon, dousing hotspots.
The building was unoccupied, and no injuries were reported. A nearby home was temporarily evacuated as a precaution.
Parkhill Road East was closed from the Swing Bridge to County Road 4 during the response.
Deputy Fire Chief Huffman praised firefighters for their quick action, noting their efforts prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent structures. The cause and estimated damage remain under investigation.
