One of Peterborough’s most beloved summer events is making a major comeback.
Kawartha Ribfest returns August 22–24, celebrating its 20th anniversary with a new home at Del Crary Park and a deep nod to its roots.
For 19 years, the Rotary Club of Peterborough Kawartha built Ribfest into a summer staple. When the club announced it was stepping back, the event’s future was in question—until local advocate Dennis Nephin stepped in.
“The Rotary Club did an incredible job building Ribfest into the beloved event it is today,” said Nephin, now leading the event. “This year is about honouring its legacy and ensuring it thrives for years to come.”
This year’s festival will feature four of North America’s top rib teams, a larger vendor market, a family zone, live performances on the Miskin Law Main Stage, and the return of the downtown favourite Hootenanny, featuring Canadian country artists Tebey and Elyse Saunders.
Admission remains free, with all sponsorship dollars reinvested into entertainment and activities.
