The Peterborough Jr C Lakers became the OJCLL’s first-ever Central Division champions after sweeping the Whitby Warriors. The Lakers capped off the series with a 14-7 win last night. The victory also earned the Lakers a bye into the Meredith Cup championship series, which is expected to begin early next month.
Matthew Drimmie was the overtime hero as the Jr A Lakers beat Six Nations 6-5 to take game one of their opening round series. The OT winner was Drimmie’s fourth goal of the game. The series shifts to the Peterborough Memorial Centre for game two tomorrow night, with the action set to get underway at 8 pm.
The Junior Elite Women’s Lacrosse provincials also took place over the weekend, with the Kawartha Lacrosse JEWL team earning the bronze medal. Head coach Jocelyn Lemay was named Coach of the Year, while Avery Johnston, who will be attending the University of Louisville on a scholarship, was named to the All-Star team.
