If you’re craving locally-produced beef, mark August 3rd on your calendar.
Peterborough County Cattlemen will host their 43rd annual barbecue that day at Maple Creek Farm off Webster Road in Warsaw. Hosted by Kim, Nicole and Ryan Kidd, activities begin at 1 p.m., with dinner served from 5 to 7 p.m.
The menu features Ontario beef, baked potatoes, baked beans, salad and dinner rolls, and this year, the addition of beef brisket.
County Cattlemen president Karen Pasternak notes the barbecue typically attracts some 400 people.
Pasternak notes for 40 or so members of the Peterborough County 4H Beef Club, the event also marks their Achievement Day, allowing them to show off the results of their hard work raising and caring for their animals.
Pasternak says while the meal itself is a huge attraction, the barbecue is an annual highlight on their social calendar as well as an opportunity to learn more about beef farming.
Admission at the door is $25 for adults and $10 for kids six to 12 years old, with kids under 6 admitted free. Payment is by cash or debit card only. Guests are asked to bring their own plate and cutlery.
