Northumberland OPP is issuing another call for the public’s help after a man was killed in a crash on County Road 2 in Colborne on Canada Day.
“We’re still investigating the fatal collision near Colborne, which occurred on the first of July 2025, at approximately 11:15 p.m., when we responded to a collision on County Road 2 between Colton Street and Jackson Drive,” Northumberland OPP Const. James Clarke told MBC.
“As a result of the collision, we are sad to say that a 58-year-old male from the Township of Cramahe was (pronounced) deceased.”
As previously reported, OPP said the collision involved a pick-up truck and bicycle and claimed the cyclist’s life.
Emergency crews – police, fire and paramedics – rushed to the scene that night, but the man did not survive.
The crash shut down the roadway until the next morning as OPP’s specialists trained in technical collision investigation and reconstruction were called in for the on-site probe and to document the scene.
“This investigation is ongoing; however, again, we are appealing for anyone for information that may assist in the investigation regarding the collision or (anyone) who saw the involved motor vehicle or cyclist prior to the collision, to contact Northumberland OPP at 1-888-310-1122,” said Clarke.
Clarke has clarified police are not looking for the driver – but witnesses or anyone with evidence – such as video or dashcam footage – of individuals/vehicles prior to the collision.
For residents who prefer to share information anonymously, Crime Stoppers remains an option. Tips can be submitted online or by calling 1-800-222-8477.
People who submit tips through Crime Stoppers do not have to testify in court and may be eligible for up to a $2,000 reward.
In terms of the investigation, police said updates will be issued when more information can be released.
