Here is your local sports report for Thursday, July 10.
The Peterborough Lakers beat the Brooklin Lacrosse Club last night 9–8 to remain in second place in the MSL standings. Thomas Hogarth led the offence with two goals and an assist, while Nick Rose made 33 saves to pick up the win in net.
The Lakers are right back at it tonight as they take on the first-place Six Nations Chiefs, who have won eleven straight games since losing to Peterborough back on May 22. Game time is 8:00pm at the PMC.
The Junior C Lakers won the opening game of their second-round playoff series, defeating the Whitby Warriors 6–2. Goalie Geordy Addison stole the show, making 46 saves for Peterborough. Game two of the best-of-five series will take place tomorrow night in Whitby, with Game 3 back at the Healthy Planet Arena at 7:00pm on Sunday.
And on the ball diamond tonight, the Peterborough U18 Elite Tigers will take on Etobicoke. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 at Riverside Park.
