The Peterborough Farmers’ Market will mark 200 years in a big way on July 19th.
From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Morrow Park market will be abuzz with free samples from vendors, a petting zoo, kids’ activities and performances by local musicians.
Meanwhile, those who RVSP at farmersmarketpeterborough.com/200th-anniversary-event have a chance to win one of two $100 gift baskets.
Market growth team lead Justin McMackin says the market was first held at what is now Market Hall in downtown Peterborough.
Besides having been a source of fresh-grown produce, baked items and seasonal staples for two centuries, the market has been, and remains, the place to be for generations of market attendees.
McMackin says plans are well underway to help the market “keep up with the times.”
