Greater Napanee is one step closer to honouring its veterans with a special memorial crosswalk near the Royal Canadian Legion on John Street.
Tiffany Lloyd from Greater Napanee Connect gave an update to council about the project during their meeting on July 8. In May, her group hosted a fire truck pull fundraiser that raised both money and community support. The Royal Canadian Legion hosted a barbecue, and Mayor Terry Richardson, local artist Tim Nimigan and myFM’s Emily Chatwood served as judges for the event.
Lloyd is asking the town for approval to install the crosswalk directly in front of the Legion, running east to west across John Street. The design was chosen by the Legion and is ready to go. Council gave its support in principle and asked staff to do a final review.
If approved at the next council meeting on July 22, painting could begin as early as July 23.
