Live theatre is alive and very well in Bobcaygeon and, in fact, has been for 22 years.
Globus Theatre on Pigeon Lake Road opened its 10-show season in late May with the Canadian premiere of Desperate To Be Doris, and is now staging Hookup, a high-energy improvised play that sees its audience experience the rollercoaster of modern romance. The current season will continue mid-December.
Established in 2003 by Sarah Quick and James Barrett, Globus became the company-in-residence at the Lakeview Arts Barn, which it now owns, the venue name having changed to, quite aptly, Globus Theatre.
Quick reflects on the leap of faith taken all those years ago when James “lured” her to Canada to launch a rural-setting professional theatre company.
Quick says Globus Theatre’s venue is a story on its own, and a big part of the attraction for audience members of both the new and longtime variety.
Reflecting on Globus Theatre’s success, Quick expresses her delight over the fact that she gets to do what she does every day.
