A 44-year-old man from Markham faces assault charges following an incident at Beavermead Park Sunday evening.
Around 9:15 pm, police responded to a disturbance at the park. Officers found that a couple in their 20s had been sitting in the lifeguard tower when some children asked them to get down. This led to a verbal confrontation involving two adults with the children. As the couple left, a man reportedly chased and tackled them.
The victims declined medical attention.
Following the investigation, the 44-year-old Markham man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault. He was released on an undertaking and is set to appear in court on August 19.
