The PrimRose Donkey Sanctuary in Roseneath recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a community open house that drew supporters from near and far.
Founder Sheila Burns says the milestone event was a success, despite the heat.
The sanctuary provides lifelong care to donkeys that have been surrendered due to illness, downsizing, or other personal circumstances. Each animal is lovingly cared for and given a second chance at life in a peaceful, safe environment.
Burns says every donkey on the farm has a story.
Visitors are welcome for curbside visits Thursdays and Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m., and private tours are also offered at 11 a.m. on those same days.
According to Burns, there are two great ways to connect with donkeys at PrimRose Donkey Sanctuary in Roseneath.
With summer in full swing and regular volunteers away on holidays, helping hands are needed more than ever. Volunteer hours run daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and no experience is needed. Just bring a lunch, something to drink, and wear comfortable clothes suitable for barn work.
PrimRose continues to provide a unique opportunity for people to connect with animals while making a difference in their lives.
