Loyalist Township is thrilled to announce the reopening of the historic Fairfield Gutzeit House in Bath, after a major two-year restoration.
Built in 1796 by brothers William Jr. and Benjamin Fairfield, this Georgian-style landmark underwent vital repairs after a 2022 assessment revealed urgent structural needs.
The project restored windows, plaster, painting, cladding, foundation, and porch areas under the guidance of Roof Tile Management, Read Jones Christoffersen Ltd., and Ontario Heritage Trust, with funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and Loyalist Township Council.
New exhibits and guided tours will be available Thursday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults and seniors, while children 12 and under enter free.
A larger grand opening event is planned for August, and community events will return in 2026. Check Loyalist Township’s website and social media for more details on this beautifully restored heritage treasure.
