Northumberland County is once again inviting local residents and business owners to apply for the Community Liaison Committee (CLC) for the 310 Division Street shelter in Cobourg.
This second round of recruitment is intended to strengthen the committee by bringing in additional voices, especially those from the business community.
The 310 Division Street facility opened in late 2024 and offers 35 emergency shelter spaces and 10 transitional housing units. It was developed to address gaps in shelter accessibility by providing services tailored to the needs of couples, 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, and those with pets. The goal is to improve housing stability and provide more inclusive support options.
The CLC is a volunteer advisory body made up of approximately 20 members, including shelter neighbours, local businesses, faith groups, people with lived experience of homelessness, and representatives from police, municipal government, and service agencies. The committee meets monthly to share information, discuss concerns, and help guide the shelter’s integration into the surrounding community.
Northumberland County is particularly seeking new members from the business community, with preference given to owners and operators located within 500 metres of the shelter. Interested individuals must be able to commit at least 2.5 hours per month to meetings and review materials.
To apply, individuals must submit an Expression of Interest form by July 31, 2025. Applicants will also need to participate in an information session and interview.
