Port Hope Council will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, June 24 at 5 pm to gather input on a proposed zoning by-law amendment for 86 John Street.
The application, submitted by Clark Consulting Services on behalf of Asunder Trade & Capital, proposes a five-storey residential building with 11 apartment units on the western side of the property. The site currently includes a hotel and restaurant, which would remain in operation.
To proceed, the developer is asking to rezone the property from Downtown Commercial ‘COM3’ to a site-specific ‘COM3(157)’ zone. The rezoning would also support a future severance to separate the new residential development from the existing commercial uses.
The public meeting will be held at Town Hall and will also be live-streamed on the Municipality of Port Hope’s YouTube channel. The meeting is intended to give residents a chance to share their thoughts and ask questions. A final decision will not be made at the meeting.
Full details, including how to submit written comments or request notice of Council’s final decision, are available on the Current Planning Applications section of the municipal website. Residents may also contact Senior Planner Ken Scullion by phone at 905-885-2431 ext. 2516 or by email.
Anyone who wishes to be formally notified of the outcome must send a written request to the Municipality of Port Hope, 56 Queen Street, Port Hope, ON, L1A 3Z9.
