The Peterborough Lakers completed a trade yesterday, sending Tommy Collins and a third-round draft pick to the Cobourg Kodiaks in exchange for 6-foot-3, 210-pound forward Braeden Saris. During his rookie season last year, Saris had 13 goals and 44 points in 14 games, earning him the league’s Rookie of the Year honours. The Lakers are in Oakville tonight to take on the Rock.
After playing their last four games on the road, the Peterborough Jr A Lakers are back at the Memorial Centre tonight for the first time since May 30. They’ll host Kitchener-Waterloo at 8pm in a battle for sole possession of sixth place in the standings.
And it was another successful year for the Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival, which took place Saturday on Little Lake. Overall numbers are still being tallied, but the top individual fundraisers were announced, with Kristen Locke raising $23,320.
From trades on the floor to triumphs on the water, Peterborough’s sports spirit keeps making waves.
