Port Hope’s director of development services is moving on to a CAO position in Peterborough County.
On Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, the Municipality of Port Hope announced Todd Davis was resigning his post, following an appointment as chief administrative officer (CAO) for the Township of Douro-Dummer.
Davis’ last day with the municipality will be Oct. 11, 2024, said the municipality.
“Our municipality has greatly benefited from Todd’s leadership and dedication,” said Candice White, Port Hope’s CAO. “His vision and expertise have driven key initiatives that will have a lasting impact on Port Hope’s development.
“We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition as we search for a successor who can continue the important work that Todd has initiated. I know that Todd will be an excellent addition to the Township of Douro-Dummer and wish him the very best in his next endeavour.”
Davis joined the municipality in 2022.
“The opportunity to work close to home and make a real difference in my community has been a significant highlight to my career,” said Davis. “While my tenure has been shorter than expected, I am very proud of the team here in Port Hope and confident the municipality is moving in a positive direction and expect good things in the future.”
The municipality said Davis has played a pivotal role in overseeing several key areas and initiatives within the development services department, ranging from economic development, to tourism, planning and the transit divisions.
“His leadership has been marked by innovation, strategic planning and a commitment to enhancing services for the community,” said the municipality, in a recent release.
Davis helped strengthen the economic development team, led the creation of the economic development strategic plan and the planning team in updating the zoning bylaw, added municipal officials.
“He also introduced destination marketing services to boost Port Hope’s visibility, collaborated on a tourism strategy, and initiated the development of the land inventory project to optimize future development opportunities and support potential affordable housing opportunities,” continued the municipality, while touching on some of his achievements.
According to the municipality, preparations are underway for the recruitment process to fill the director’s position. Further updates regarding the recruitment process will be shared in coming weeks, added officials.
As previously reported, Brighton’s new CAO Elana Arthurs was recruited earlier this year and previously served at the helm in Douro-Dummer the last three years.
