An investigation is continuing after a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle claimed the life of a 73-year-old Roseneath resident, say Northumberland OPP.
At about 2:05 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, paramedics, the fire department and police responded to reports of the crash south of Davis Road on County Road 45 in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand.
“A 73-year-old motorcycle rider from Roseneath was pronounced deceased at the scene,” reported OPP, on Sunday morning.
Members of the OPP’s traffic collision investigation (TCI) team and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario were also called to the scene to assist with the investigation, said OPP.
Just before 5 a.m., OPP issued a release saying County Road 45 was closed in the area at Woodland Road and County Road 29. Central Region OPP also posted on X that motorists should expect the road to be closed for a considerable period of time. Around 10 a.m. Sunday, OPP said resources were clearing the area and the road was reopening.
“This investigation is ongoing and updates will be provided when available,” said OPP.
Northumberland OPP are calling on anyone who may have witnessed the crash or anyone who has video or dash-cam footage or information to reach out to police at 1-888-310-1122.
