With a remarkable $100,000 gift, CPS Wood Products – locally known and operating as Canada Pallet Corp. – has stepped up once again to help the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation with its largest fundraising effort ever: the “Exceptional Community, Exceptional Care” campaign.
Since 2002, the Cobourg-based business has supported NHH, acknowledging the value of having a well-equipped hospital close to home. Their latest donation represents their largest single gift in support of the hospital to date, NHHF recently announced.
“By helping our hospital purchase newer and better equipment, we can help keep our Northumberland-area patients (locally) more often, and hopefully, reduce costs to families dealing with health issues,” said Shawn Hicks, CEO of CPS Wood Products, when asked about the value he sees in having high-quality health care close to home for his team and the broader community. “We understand the role new technology plays in any business and hope new equipment in our hospital will improve care and help people get treated in less time, close to home.”
The NHHF publicly launched its $25-million “Exceptional Community, Exceptional Care” campaign in May 2023, making this the largest fundraising campaign in the organization’s history, as well as in the history of Northumberland County.
The campaign aims to help with significant capital needs at NHH – it will help fund “crucial redevelopment, essential new programs, and life-saving technology.”
CPS Wood Products is described as an industry leader, with a team of 165 employees who work hard every day to provide great products and service to customers in North America, reads a recent NHHF release.
“The support of their local hospital is just one way they have demonstrated their focus on being a responsible corporate citizen,” said NHHF.
Hank Vandermeer, campaign chair, said NHHF is grateful for the support.
“The investment in our local hospital by CPS (Wood Products) shows this is a company with leaders who understand the importance of having good health care in our community for the well-being of their team members and families.”
NHHF CEO Rhonda Cunningham said caring businesses like CPS Wood Products make an incredible difference at the hospital.
“CPS has long supported our hospital, and this latest and largest gift demonstrates their understanding of the significant investment required to help our hospital continue to care for our aging and growing population,” said Cunningham. “We are thankful to have caring businesses like CPS operating in our community and supporting exceptional health care close to home.”
