Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) has revealed the details for its 2024 season, which will see each team playing six home games and six on the road.
The season kicks off on May 20th with the defending Mann Cup champion Six Nations Chiefs hosting the Owen Sound North Stars in their traditional Bread and Cheese Day game.
The rest of the regular season will kick off in the first week of June, leading to an extended playoffs that will feature three rounds this year instead of two.
The first round of playoffs will be a best-of-five (first team to win three games), showcasing 2nd place vs 7th place, 3rd vs 6th and 4th vs 5th, with the 1st place team during the regular season earning an automatic bye into the second round.
Following the opening playoff round, the semifinal and final will be decided through in best-of-seven format (first to win four).
This summer there will seven teams in the league, up from five, with the Oakville Rock returning after a brief hiatus and the Owen Sound North Stars competing in their inaugural season. They’ll join the MSL’s returning teams from last year, which includes the Brooklin Lacrosse Club, Cobourg Kodiaks, Brampton Excelsiors, Six Nations Chiefs and Peterborough Lakers.
The league says the full season schedule is in the works and is expected to be released soon.
