Stephen and Heather Tobey of Gordon Tobey Developments Ltd announced that they will be donating the proceeds of the sale of 52 Beacon Drive to Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation (TMHF) as part of the HomeBuild for HealthCare initiative.
The home is currently under construction at 52 Beacon Drive in the new Hamilton Woods Development and it will be sold and the net proceeds donated to the TMHF to use to help support the purchase of needed hospital equipment. It is anticipated with the level of support they are receiving from their trades and suppliers that a minimum of $400,000 will be donated upon its sale.
Heather told us that the support of suppliers and their tradespeople made it possible.
“Stephen and I have always felt that it is important to give back to our community,” said Heather Tobey – Gordon Tobey Developments Ltd. “Good healthcare is something that we all need, so this project felt like an excellent opportunity to serve everyone in our community in a meaningful way.”
The home design chosen is their Gray Birch model which is 2,096 square feet and features a level front entry making it suitable for homeowners with mobility challenges and who will require additional space for family and guests. It has a compact main floor living area, master bedroom and den with extra bedrooms in the loft. There is also a covered patio located centrally at the rear of the home has privacy from neighbours on either side.
According to Heather, people are welcome to stop by the build and see the growing list of sponsors.
The home will be sold upon completion which is anticipated to be in June 2024. TMHF has received the proceeds from 5 HomeBuild projects in Quinte West but this is the first in Brighton.
“This is our first HomeBuild in Brighton and we are very grateful to the Tobey family and their trades and suppliers for their support of our hospital,” said Wendy Warner – Executive Director of TMHF. “Nearly 60% of all Brightonians use TMH for their health care needs.”
Warner told us it’s a first for Brighton
More than 2.1 million in equipment purchases is needed for TMH, with items ranging from hospital beds and medication carts to anesthetic machines and ventilators.
“We can’t thank our trades enough for their generosity,” added Tobey. “It is definitely a community that is building this very special home.”
