In an idealistic sense, hitting the road and setting forth on a nomadic lifestyle would be the perfect escape from any issue. Don’t like your house? Get a bus. Don’t enjoy your job? The open road will take care of you.
For a lot, these impulsive mind journeys become nothing more than an idea you float around while pushing a pencil at your desk. But for Arbour Season, the dream of being road-bound became a reality and the very thing they now share with North America; music, their family, and a beautiful bus home.
Shane and Emily, who formed the band, have been travelling in a renovated bus throughout America. The two and their family will finally park up in their stomping grounds in Southern Ontario as part of their tour through the province, playing in Cobourg on Friday.
Originally an Oshawa-local, Shane tells GoNorthumberland their life on the road began at Disney World.
Of course, 10 years will change anybody’s life drastically. Since the band’s beginnings, Shane and Emily jumped from a duo RV to a family convoy when they began their “two-road-home” project.
The musical duo has since added two children, Sawyer and Juno, and Shane’s mother to the road crew as their full-time nanny.
Shane says there’s always concerns about the family’s wellbeing on their YouTube series following their lives but went on to say it’s a chance to explore a stronger family dynamic.
The family’s self-titled YouTube channel was the product of discovery as Shane began finding interest in the Nomadic lifestyle.
Currently over 5-thousand subscribers watch the channel. Shane told us the Arbour Season YouTube series began featuring the bus life as he began learning about how he could fit into it.
The family and their house bus will be hosting a concert in Cobourg Friday July 14 at the Cobourg Alliance Church. The band’s outdoor concert will be free and will begin at 7 o’clock.
This concert will be part of the band’s five-show Ontario tour, so don’t miss out.
