Beatrice Strong Public School in Port Hope will soon offer a French Immersion program.
Trustees with the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board approved the move on Tuesday night as part of the final stage of a public consultation on enrolment pressures within the elementary schools in the Port Hope High School catchment area.
The program will start being offered in September of 2024.
For the upcoming school year, administration will be exploring using all available space at Ganaraska Trail Public School for classrooms, and the possibility of an additional portable at the school.
Chair Steve Russell says he believes they have arrived at a positive course of action that values the input received and meets the broad goals of accommodating students in the community now and into the future.
