VIA Rail has issued an apology for the major delays and disruptions that happened over Christmas.
The winter storm that slammed Ontario between December 23-26 saw several trains shut down mid run, including one that stopped just past the Cobourg station after hitting a tree.
The statement from President and CEO Martin Landry said they understand that many people were relying on their service to celebrate the holidays with friends and family, and apoligize to anyone who’s plans were changed.
He said lessons will be learned, and changes will be made as a result of these events.
Landry also noted that full refunds and travel credits have been given to anyone impacted by the storm.
