A Port Hope kid is getting his shot at representing Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Halifax.
Owen Beck was added to the roster prior to the quarterfinals after an injury to Colton Dach.
Beck, a draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens, didn’t originally make the team and was sent back to the Mississauga Steelheads of the OHL.
Canada picked up a 4-3 overtime win over Slovakia on Monday. Beck played a small role, finishing with 1:41 of ice time.
