Port Hope Police arrested a man in connection with a fraud attempt.
Police arrested Tayjon Campbell of Toronto on Wednesday in connection with a report of a fraudulent phone call.
Police say a woman received a phone call from a man that said he was a lawyer and required 9700 dollars to get her grandson out of jail.
According to police, the woman then received a call asking for ten thousand more. It was then she called the courthouse who told her they had no record of any of this.
She got in contact with police, and yesterday afternoon when the man came to the house to collect the money, he was arrested by police after a brief foot chase.
Police are asking the public if you’ve had a similar encounter, to report it to them as soon as you can.
