Northumberland area drivers had lower than average car insurance rates last year compared to the rest of Ontario.
According to a report from rates.ca, drivers in Port Hope, Cobourg, Kendal, Napanee, Trenton, Belleville, and Picton paid lower car insurance rates on average than most of the province in 2021.
The average yearly rate in those areas was $1175 while the provincial average was $1555, almost a $400 savings.
The area with the highest insurance rate last year was Vaughn, where residents paid $2179.
