As white tailed deer begin to move around more in the fall, it can cause a danger to many local drivers. OPP Constable Joe Ayotte says there’s certain times that may be more dangerous for animal activity.
Scientists suggest that white tail deer can weigh up to 300 lbs and are nocturnal at times to avoid predictors. Deer also go into the rut in the fall and can travel to find a mate. More active deer can pose a threat to drivers especially at low light hours.
Ayotte adds that if a deer does jump in front of you, try to avoid swerving as it can put you into a ditch or oncoming traffic.
