A new $300,000 splash pad is in the works for Port Hope.
It will be located at Wladyka Park and the goal is to open by or in July.
There was an open house at the Jack Burger Sports Complex last night (Mar 2), focusing on the splash pad.
Municipal staff were on hand to answer questions regarding the design, size and timeline of the project.
Jim McCormack, director of parks, recreation and culture, tells us the original plan was to have this splash pad in Memorial Park.
He says the play area will be roughly 245 square meters with about 21 water features.
There will also be barriers between the ball diamonds and the planned area of the splash pad, with safety netting.
He adds that there will eventually be a Croft Street extension.
Following the open house last night, a staff report will go to the committee-of-the-whole meeting planned for March 17th, along with any residents comments, with approval from council expected by April 7th.
Residents can keep up to date on the splash pad project at porthope.ca.
