Colborne is preparing to embrace its witchy side with a new Friday the 13th event aimed at attracting visitors and supporting local businesses.
Witches’ Night Out will take place Nov. 13 from 5 to 10 p.m. in the downtown core, bringing together participating businesses for an evening of shopping, dining, entertainment and mystical experiences.
The event is being organized by Mystic Avenue, a holistic wellness centre in Colborne, as part of its goal of establishing the village as Ontario’s Witchiest Village.
Organizers say the event follows the success of the Northumberland Witch Walk on Oct. 24, which attracted an estimated 1,000 people to the community. The gathering highlighted the potential of unique local events to draw visitors and generate business for downtown merchants.
Witches’ Night Out will feature four readers offering 15-minute sessions for $40 at Mystic Avenue’s yoga and wellness studio. A complimentary group ritual will also be available, while participating businesses will remain open late with special promotions and offerings.
The Royal Crown will offer a private dining room, with guests able to choose a prix fixe menu or receive 20 per cent off its regular dinner menu. Alchimista and The Hen & Hook will serve cocktails and sweet treats, while Mystic Avenue will offer 13 per cent off selected merchandise.
Registration is free, and everyone who signs up individually will receive a complimentary mystery bag, available for pickup at Mystic Avenue, located at 18 King St. E.
Organizers hope to make Witches’ Night Out a regular Friday the 13th attraction, creating another opportunity to showcase Colborne’s downtown businesses and encourage people to visit.
Costumes and witch hats are welcome, with organizers inviting residents and visitors alike to join in the festivities.
Registration is available online through Mystic Avenue’s website.
