A 16-year-old youth has been charged with sexual assault following an investigation by Cobourg police.
The Cobourg Police Service says its Criminal Investigation Bureau began investigating in July 2026 after receiving information that a youth had been sexually assaulted in the town.
The accused was arrested Oct. 26 and released on an undertaking under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. A court appearance is scheduled for a later date.
Police say there is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and encourage anyone who has experienced sexual assault to report it.
