Cobourg’s annual Hike, Bike and Bark fundraiser has raised more than $72,000 in support of Community Care Northumberland and Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre.
The event brought participants to Victoria Park for a day of hiking, biking and walking dogs, with proceeds supporting local services and hospice care in Northumberland County.
Kristen Andrews is the event and relationships co-ordinator at Community Care Northumberland. She says organizers changed the route slightly this year to showcase more of the natural beauty of the Town of Cobourg.
Another feature this year was a “Doggie Wash” event, which many participants took advantage of to keep their furry walkers clean and tidy. The activity raised nearly $1,300.
Andrews says the fundraiser encourages residents to get active while supporting programs that provide care and assistance to people in the community, including individuals and families facing serious illness and end-of-life challenges.
She adds that she is continually reminded of the incredible work everyone at Ed’s House does throughout the year to assist people in need during a very delicate time in their lives.
Andrews says the event will most definitely remain one of the highlights of the year for her and the entire team.
