Northumberland United Way is encouraging residents to plan for the future through its annual Will Week initiative, offering access to affordable legal services for basic wills and power of attorney documents.
The program runs Oct. 19 to 23 and involves local lawyers donating their time and expertise to help make estate planning more accessible across Northumberland County.
“Will Week helps make taking that step a little more accessible,” said Alicia Vandine, executive director of Northumberland United Way.
Basic wills are available for $400, while power of attorney documents cost $150. Appointments are limited, and residents are encouraged to contact participating law offices directly during the initiative.
Participating firms include Mann McCracken and Associates in Port Hope, Cobourg and Brighton-area locations; Highclass Law and Racine Law Professional Corporation in Cobourg and Port Hope, respectively; and Camp and Burgess Law Office in Brighton.
Appointments are booked during Will Week, but consultations and document preparation can take place later at a mutually convenient time.
