Port Hope’s annual tree-trimming program is underway, with municipal crews pruning trees on road allowances, boulevards and other public property. The fall work is timed with the trees’ dormant season, reducing stress while allowing crews to remove dead, damaged or diseased branches and address potential hazards.
The program also helps maintain clear sightlines and ensure branches do not interfere with sidewalks, trails, streetlights, signs, utility lines or other infrastructure.
The Municipality says regular maintenance can reduce the need for costly emergency tree removals and protect Port Hope’s tree canopy.
Residents who spot trees on municipal property requiring attention can report them through the town’s online reporting system.
