Northumberland OPP say a 17-year-old Quebec resident has been arrested after a stolen vehicle failed to stop for police twice before being abandoned near Hastings.
Police say the vehicle, reported stolen from the Niagara Region, was spotted on Highway 401 near Cobourg and later in Hastings. The driver fled on both occasions before abandoning the vehicle on Lakeshore Drive.
With help from the OPP Canine Unit, officers located and arrested the teen in a nearby field.
The youth faces several Highway Traffic Act offences, as well as charges of possessing property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous operation and flight from a peace officer, each involving two counts. The accused was held for a bail hearing in Cobourg.
