Brighton’s Applefest is returning for its 52nd year, bringing four days of activities, vendors, entertainment and family fun to the community.
The festival runs October 24th through the 27th, with Saturday serving as the main festival day.
Applefest Chair Laura Knegt says the event has grown considerably since a group of local farmers started it more than five decades ago.
A free festival
The main Saturday festivities include a street fair, car show and Children’s Village.
Admission to Applefest, the street fair, car show and Children’s Village is free, although some individual activities have a cost.
One of the paid attractions is helicopter rides, which Knegt says offer visitors a different view of Brighton and Presqu’ile.
More than 200 vendors
Visitors will also find more than 200 vendors across the three Applefest locations.
Organizers say 193 vendors are from Northumberland, Hastings or Prince Edward counties, while more than 50 are from Brighton itself.
Knegt says keeping the event local is an important part of the festival.
Plenty for families
The festival will also feature a wide range of activities, including axe throwing, food vendors, a live DJ and live music.
The Children’s Village will have rock climbing, giant Lego, a petting zoo and Zorball, while local artists will perform throughout the day.
Applefest organizers are also reminding visitors that the festival is a no-pet zone from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. during the event.
Construction in Brighton could also affect traffic and access around the festival. Organizers say they’ll communicate any closures or detours through the municipal and Applefest websites and social media.
