Construction is officially underway on a new French-language Catholic elementary school and daycare in New Amherst.
The project, led by Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir, will provide local families with access to a francophone education from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 6.
The school is planned for 259 students and will feature a French-language Catholic learning environment. An on-site francophone daycare will add 49 spaces for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
The new facility is expected to strengthen services for French-speaking families in the growing New Amherst community while providing another attraction for families considering a move to the area.
School officials say the development will bring together education and child-care services in one location, offering families a French-first option close to home.
