Northumberland OPP have charged a Cobourg man following a sexual assault investigation involving reported incidents at a Brighton business.
Police say they received several complaints on August 20 regarding incidents alleged to have occurred at a business on Young Street between May 28 and August 12.
The Northumberland OPP Crime Unit continued the investigation and took an individual into custody on August 24.
As a result, 53-year-old Jalil Ahmed of Cobourg has been charged with sexual assault and two counts of voyeurism.
Ahmed is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and are asking anyone who believes they may have experienced a similar incident, or who has information that could assist investigators, to contact Northumberland OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
Anonymous information can also be provided through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
OPP note there is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and a report can be made to police regardless of how much time has passed. Support and information about community, social and health services are also available through Ontario 211.
The charges have not been proven in court.
