Cobourg Mayor Lucas Cleveland has officially filed his nomination papers to seek another term in the upcoming municipal election.
Cleveland filed his papers at 2:17 yesterday afternoon, creating a three-way race for the mayor’s position in Cobourg.
The current field includes Cleveland, Deputy Mayor Nicole Beatty and Max LeMarchant, the founder of the New Amherst community and a longtime Cobourg resident.
Beatty filed her nomination papers earlier this year, while Cleveland’s filing now brings the number of mayoral candidates to three.
The nomination period remains open until Friday, August 21 at 2 p.m. Candidates can file their nomination papers until that deadline.
The municipal election is scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2026. Voting will begin online October 16 and continue through voting day.
The field could still change before nominations close, with potential candidates having until the August 21 deadline to enter the race.
Cobourg voters will ultimately choose one candidate to serve as mayor for the next four-year municipal term.
