Brighton Speedway has added three influential members of its racing community to its Wall of Fame.
Gary Vandertoorn, John Calnan and Kim Fisher-MacDonald were honoured during the 2026 Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday, August 8.
Vandertoorn is being recognized as a Builder for his contributions both on and off the track. He began racing in the Enduro class in 1985 before returning to competition in 2005. He raced until 2011, earning the Novice Run-Off Championship in 2005 and the Pure Stock Championship in 2007.
His contributions extended well beyond racing. Vandertoorn began helping Lou Rinaldi with track preparation in 1999 and continued assisting the Rinaldi family with maintenance and operations for years.
Calnan began his ten-season racing career in 1988 and went on to record 59 career wins, including 24 feature wins. He won multiple Run-Off Championships, two Most Feature Flags awards and three consecutive Super Stock/Sportsman championships.
Fisher-MacDonald began racing in the Ladies class in 1992 and was named Rookie of the Year after her first season. She won the Ladies championship in 1995, along with the Most Checkered Flags and Promoter’s Award. She later competed in the Street Stock class and finished her career with 35 wins.
Brighton Speedway says the three inductees have left a lasting mark on the track and continue to inspire racers, officials, volunteers and fans.
The speedway’s racing season continues Saturday, August 15, with the Southern Ontario Sprints. The event will feature the Lawns We Do 360 Sprint Cars, Late Models, Canadian Modifieds, Thunder Stocks and Mini Stocks.
Gates open at 5 p.m., with racing beginning at 7 p.m.
