Four people are facing charges after Northumberland OPP officers seized suspected drugs, cash and a prohibited weapon during a RIDE checkpoint in Trent Hills.
Police say officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere checkpoint at the intersection of Albert Street West and Bridge Street North shortly after 3 a.m. on Aug. 2 when they stopped a vehicle and launched an investigation.
According to investigators, officers seized quantities of suspected cocaine, fentanyl and unidentified pills, as well as a prohibited weapon, drug trafficking paraphernalia and a large amount of Canadian currency.
The following charges have been laid:
Danielle Girard, 37, of Trent Hills, is charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Casey McNabb, 45, of Trent Hills, is charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Tyler Traynor, 32, of Trenton, is charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Matthew Mutton, 33, of Trent Hills, is charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
All four individuals are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on Sept. 16.
Northumberland OPP says it remains committed to reducing drug trafficking through proactive enforcement and investigative efforts.
