Brighton Councillor Bobbi Wright has officially entered the race for mayor in this fall’s municipal election.
Wright announced her candidacy Thursday, saying her decision follows months of conversations with residents and a belief that Brighton is at an important point in its growth.
“Serving on Council has been one of the greatest honours of my life,” Wright said in a statement. “Those conversations have inspired me to take this next step because I believe Brighton’s best days are still ahead.”
A local entrepreneur and current member of council, Wright said her campaign will focus on responsible growth, sound financial management, supporting local businesses, investing in infrastructure and community amenities, improving communication and transparency, and preserving Brighton’s character as the municipality continues to grow.
She said leadership means listening to residents, encouraging respectful dialogue and bringing people together to find practical solutions.
“I’ve never believed leadership is about having all the answers. It’s about listening carefully, bringing people together, making informed decisions, and never losing sight of the people we’re here to serve,” she said.
Wright said she plans to spend the coming months meeting with residents across the municipality to discuss their priorities and share her vision for Brighton’s future.
The municipal election is scheduled for Oct. 26.
