Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services has lifted the community’s burn ban, effective immediately.
Residents can now resume open-air burning but are being reminded to follow all municipal open-air burning bylaws and use extreme caution when conducting any burns.
The municipality says residents must ensure they are following all requirements before starting an open-air fire, including obtaining any required permits.
Information about burn permits is available through the Municipality of Port Hope website.
Officials warn that anyone who fails to comply with open-air burning regulations could face fines or charges under the Ontario Fire Code and municipal bylaws.
