A section of Brook Road North in Cobourg will be closed for two days this weekend as work continues on the Cobourg East Community Trunk Servicing Project.
Northumberland County says Brook Road North (County Road 20) will be fully closed between Elgin Street East and King Street from July 25 to July 26 to allow the Town of Cobourg’s contractor to install underground infrastructure for a trunk sanitary sewer.
During the closure, Brook Road North will be open to local traffic only. Local access will be maintained between Elgin Street East and 675 Brook Road North, and between King Street and 459 Brook Road North.
Through traffic will be detoured via D’Arcy Street, with signage directing motorists around the closure.
The closure is expected to affect motorists, emergency services, transit and school transportation providers, as well as nearby businesses and residents.
Lane restrictions and lane shifts are already in place on Brook Road North, with periodic daytime lane closures expected to continue after the full closure as construction progresses.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of July.
Northumberland County is encouraging residents and motorists to plan ahead and allow extra travel time during the closure.
