Workman Road in Cobourg will be temporarily closed Friday as firefighters continue work following a large straw fire in the area.
The Cobourg Fire Department says the roadway between County Road 2 and Elgin Street East will be closed from 10 a.m. until approximately 5 p.m. for overhaul operations.
Overhaul operations involve firefighters searching for hidden fire extension and hot spots after the main fire has been extinguished.
The road was previously closed for several hours Thursday evening while crews worked to put out the active straw fire.
Officials say Workman Road will be blocked to through traffic during the closure, with emergency access only.
The Fire Department is asking residents to avoid the area while crews complete their work.
